Grapefruit interaction with certain drugs can kill you

Grapefruit eaten while taking certain drugs can kill you. It may not be the first time you have heard this, but for those who are finding they are taking more prescription drugs in their later years, revisiting the topic can't hurt. I was prompted to write this post after reading an article on the CBC website this morning. If you would like to have a look at the article yourself, please click here.

An article about it on Wikipedia says:  A number of organic compounds, identified as furanocoumarin derivatives, interfere with the hepatic and intestinal enzyme cytochrome P450 isoform CYP3A4 and are therefore primarily responsible for the interaction. However, bioactive compounds in grapefruit juice may also interfere with P-glycoprotein and organic anion transporting polypeptides (OATPs) either increasing or decreasing bioavailability of a number of drugs.

Below, is the video I'm sharing from the CBC website article I read this morning.

For those of you who want to read a more in-depth study about this, click here to read this article from the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health.

Influenza vaccines may be poisonous

Like a lot of other people I typically get a flu shot every year. Recently, it has come to my attention that this might not be the best choice. I took some minor comfort in the fact that the information presented against a yearly vaccination, stemmed from an article published by Natural News in the United States. I was doubtful that those of us north of the border were at risk too... but I may have been wrong to assume this. It seems that FDA approved influenza vaccines from the United States are used in Canada as well.

From an article on www. beforeitsnews.com it says, "After a recent review of the toxic nature of FDA approved influenza vaccines in the U.S, we find that those destined north of the border are equally dangerous to Canadians. The three standard influenza vaccines in Canada include Vaxigrip, Influvac, and Fluviral. However, the three most recent vaccines including Agriflu, Intanza and Flumist promise to deliver additional forms of toxic agents, all whose properties have no long-term human studies in Canada or anywhere else in the world."

Of course, this wasn't what I was hoping to read. Looking around some more information, I found a break down of many of the vaccines being used. Here they are:

** 2011/2012 FDA APPROVED FLU VACCINES **

1. FLUZONE by Sanofi Pasteur (FDA link)

** Toxic Ingredients **

Formaldehyde: Carcinogen

Octylphenol Ethoxylate: Immunotoxin

Thimerosal: Neurotoxin

2. FLUVIRIN by Novartis (FDA link)

** Toxic Ingredients **

Beta-Propiolactone: Carcinogen

Nonylphenol Ethoxylate: Immunotoxin

Neomycin: Immunotoxin

Polymyxin: Neurotoxin

Thimerosal: Neurotoxin

3. FLUMIST by MedImmune, LLC (FDA link)

** Toxic Ingredients **

Dibasic Potassium Phosphate: Immunotoxin

Gentamicin Sulfate: Nephrotoxic

Monobasic Potassium Phosphate: Immunotoxin

Monosodium Glutamate: Neurotoxin

4. FLULAVAL by GlaxoSmithKline (FDA link)

** Toxic Ingredients **

Formaldehyde: Carcinogen

Sodium Deoxycholate: Immunotoxin

Thimerosal: Neurotoxin

5. FLUARIX by GlaxoSmithKline (FDA link)

** Toxic Ingredients **

Formaldehyde: Carcinogen

Gentamicin Sulfate: Nephrotoxic

Hydrocortisone: Myelin Degenerator

Octoxynol 10: Immunotoxin

Polysorbate 80: Sterilie Agent

Sodium Deoxycholate: Immunotoxin

This information and more can be found here and you might find it very disturbing. There are links to how the toxic ingredients can affect you such as Thimerosal... which  has powerful and damaging effects on cells of the nervous and immune systems in mammals including humans. Its effect may vary depending on the dose, the genetics of the individual, and the timing of exposure. The mercury dose from thimerosal produces acute and often deadly ethylmercury blood levels.

There is also a link to a pdf file you can download that links to 75 studies demonstrating the toxic effects of Thimerosal and Mercury.

If that doesn't scare you enough, please watch the following video. It is quite lengthy, but seems to give a lot of good information.

During my research for this article I ran across some other videos on YouTube. One by Andreas Moritz caught my attention.  He is the author of over a dozen books on various subjects pertaining to holistic health and is most well-known for his books The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush, Timeless Secrets of Health and Rejuvenation and Cancer is not a Disease. Watch the video below as he speaks about why he doesn't think vaccination programs work.

He has also written a book about this titled Vaccine-nation: Poisoning the Population, One Shot at a Time. In this book he offers indisputable scientific data that reveals how that childhood vaccines, flu shots and other kinds of inoculations are responsible for the dramatic decline of natural immunity among millions of children, adults, and members of the older population. With each new shot received, the immune system becomes weaker and permanently damaged, thereby laying the ground for potentially debilitating illnesses to develop in the future.

Now that's a real worrisome thought!

I get the flue-shot every year because of my chronic sinusitis, and I was insisting my daughter get it every year because of her Asthma. But Mr. Moritz says in the book that vaccinated children have 120% more Asthma, 317% more ADHD, 185% more Neurologic disorders, and 146% more Autism than those not vaccinated.

I'm afraid I'm going to need some time to digest all of the information I've un-covered today. Certainly more research is warranted before I get another shot next season.

If you would like to get a copy of  Vaccine-nation: Poisoning the Population, One Shot at a Time you can get it from Amazon for $9.99 (Kindle version) or $24.95 for the paperback version. Click here to order.

Are you a monk?

A man is driving down the road and

breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?

The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, and even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound; a sound like no other that he has ever heard . The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, We can't tell you because you're not a monk.

The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way. Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of the same monastery.
The monks again accept him, feed him, and even fix his car.

That night, he hears the same strange mesmerizing sound that he had heard years earlier.

The next morning, he asks what the sound was, but the monks reply,

We can't tell you because you're not a monk..

The man says, all right, all right. I'm dying to know.
If the only way I can find out what that sound was is to become a monk, how do I become a monk?
The monks reply, you must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a monk.

The man sets about his task. Some forty-five years later, he returns and knocks on the door of the monastery. He says, I have travelled the earth and devoted my life to the task demanded and have found what you had asked for. There are 371,145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth.

The monks reply, congratulations, you are correct, and you are now considered a monk .
We shall now show you the way to the sound..

The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, the sound is behind that door.

The man reaches for the knob, but the door is locked. He asks, May I have the key ?

The monks give him the key, and he opens the door.

Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone. The man requests the key to the stone door.

The monks give him the key, and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby. He demands another key from the monks, who provide it. Behind that door is another door, this one made of sapphire.. And so it went on until the man had gone through doors of emerald, silver, topaz, and amethyst.

Finally, the monks say, This is the key to the last door ...

The man is relieved to be at the end. He unlocks the door, turns the knob, and behind that door he is astonished to find the source of that strange sound. It is truly an amazing and unbelievable sight

.. But I can't tell you what it is because you're not a monk.

Classified ad scammers

I've been trying to sell an old guitar amplifier I don't use any more through a classified ad site online known as kijiji.ca. The price is $1000. I think it's a fair price since it is a Fender Vintage amp. It's very large and it's very loud. However, since it has some value, it seems it has made me a target for a few scammers. So I'd like to warn you that if you have something you want to sell online, you have to be careful.

One person offered a check. He would have someone else come to pick the amp up and drop off a check.  Since it was someone else, rather than the buyer, it's pretty safe to say, that without a description of the fellow, or a car licence plate number, if the check was to bounce, my amplifier would be gone, and I don't really have much to give to the police. And then too.... sometimes the police are just not interested in what could be considered a petty crime. Unless... you're someone famous, or the media catches wind of it.

But then I've had a couple of people offer to pay by PayPal. In both cases the money would be transferred to my PayPal account, and someone (other than the buyer) would come to pick up the amp. One might think because the money is sitting in their PayPal account, it would be safe to let it go, but this isn't the case. Once again, you have no identifiable information to give to the police (not that they would do anything about it) but PayPal favors the buyer in these matters. The problem with this is all they have to do is file a dispute through PayPal saying the amp wasn't working, damaged or any other believable excuse, and PayPal will give the buyer back their money. It's the responsibility  of the buyer, to return the merchandise they got reimbursed for. And PayPal has no way of knowing if this was done or not.

There are also fraudsters out there who ask for your PayPal info, and then have a way of sending you phoney messages that appear as if they are from PayPal.

If I can get caught up in this kind of scam, you can too.  The book pictured to the left titled Outsmarting the Scam Artists: How to Protect Yourself From the Most Clever Cons is written by Doug Shadel and is available in paperback form Amazon.  He says, "While anyone can be targeted, many victims are older." In his book you will:

  • Get practical tips to combat all kinds of scams, from simple lottery tickets to non-existent oil and gas deals and religious ponzi schemes
  • Learn how to protect yourself by securing your mailbox and fraud-proofing your trash
  • Get inside the head of sophisticated scam artists to discover how you can become the type of individual they avoid
