Over Fifty? Time to reboot?

reboot-featuredEver wanted to reboot your life? If you're over fifty, there's a good chance you need a reboot. What if it was just as easy as rebooting your computer? Luther Cale's book, 33 Ways To Reboot Your Life shows you just how to do it. He says, "The good news? Anyone can do it!"

  • Your closest relationships are a drain on you, not a source of joy.
  • You stopped exploring, stopped dreaming. You feel dead inside.
  • You don't know what to do with your life.
  • You are in a constant state of stress or confusion.
  • You are wondering where your life has gone.
  • You walk around pissed most of the time.
  • You may have been recently divorced
  • A loved one died
  • You lost your job

Although this website is for anyone over fifty, it's more for those who are 50+ and alone. It can take time to get used to being alone. And if you're struggling with it, you really need a reboot. You have to find away to get back to that place where you enjoy life, want to make a difference, and enjoy the next 50 years doing new things.

Pressure is on for the old man

old-couple-featured_nAn old married couple no sooner hit the pillows when the old man passes gas and says, 'Seven Points.'

His wife rolls over and says, 'What in the world was that?' The old man replied, 'its fart football.'

A few minutes later his wife lets one go and says, 'Touchdown, tie score...'

After about five minutes the old man lets another one go and says, 'Aha. I'm ahead 14 to 7.'

Not to be outdone the wife rips out another one and says, 'Touchdown, tie score.'

Five seconds go by and she lets out a little squeaker and says, 'Field goal, I lead 17 to 14.' Now the pressure is on for the old man.

He refuses to get beaten by a woman, so he strains real hard.

Since defeat is totally unacceptable, he gives it everything he's got, and accidentally poops in the bed.

The wife says, 'What the hell was that?'

The old man says, 'Half time, switch sides

Glossary of Scam Terminology

AARP is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that helps people over fifty improve the quality of their lives. In January of 2012 they published an article titled Glossary of Scam Terminology. They say, "Back in simpler times, "skimming" involved a flat rock and a lake, "cramming" was what college students did before final exams or in telephone booths (remember them?), and "phishing" was a misspelled way to catch dinner."

Thinking that I'm fairly computer savvy, I guessed I would recognize all of the definitions and know what they meant. But I didn't. For example:

Pharming. When hackers use malicious programs to route you to their own sites — even though you've correctly typed in the address of a site you want to visit. The software stealthily diverts you to a look-alike destination, typically with the goal of gathering personal information for identity theft.

So you might want to brush up on them, just like I did, in case something goes horribly wrong and you have to report an incident to the police or a computer shop, to get a malicious program removed. Click here to read the article.

Defeating Cancer by Connie Strasheim

defeat-cancer-featuredIn this long-awaited book, Defeat Cancer: 15 Doctors of Integrative & Naturopathic Medicine Tell You How, health care journalist Connie Strasheim has done all the work for you. She conducted intensive interviews with fifteen highly regarded doctors who specialize in cancer treatment, asking them thoughtful, important questions, and then spent months compiling their information into organized, user-friendly chapters that contain the core principles upon which they base their approach to healing cancer. The practitioners interviewed are medical, osteopathic and naturopathic doctors, trained in a variety of integrative approaches to cancer treatment.

All aspects of treatment are covered, from anti-neoplastic (anti-cancer) remedies and immune system support, to dietary and lifestyle choices that result in the best outcomes for patients. The book also offers unique insights into healing, such as the pros and cons of different treatments and how to intelligently use chemotherapy. It discusses patient and practitioner challenges to healing, factors that affect healing, treatment outcomes and how to effectively combine multiple medical strategies to obtain the best results. Finally, it offers helpful insights to the friends and families of those coping with cancer. Cancer treatment is complex and controversial, and this book puts the treatment information you need in the palm of your hand.

defeat-cancer-ebookThis would be a good book to get now. But keep in mind, the ideas discussed in here are simply to provide you with options, and different paths you could take if you had cancer. As one reviewer said, "With every chapter I finished I thougt: Yes, this is the approach I would go for. At the end I could not decide which would be best for me (in case cancer should ever hit me), but it is not the aim of this book to help you chose an option. It is supposed to give you a glimpse of what your possibilities are and then explore different options more extensively. I especially liked the mentioning of other websites where you can find additional information."
